Ethiopian Christianity is one of the oldest forms of the Christian religion; the Ethiopian language Amharic is related to Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus. During the processions of Timkat — Ethiopian Epiphany — multitudes of priests line up to sway and sing in a continuity of tradition, reminding me of pearls on a rosary extending backward through time.
